Henry
William Iles started his property business back in 1870 in London
before moving home to York Road Southend, locating his office in Nelson
Street.
In 1900 his son Henry William Iles moved to Billericay
with the new office situated at 13 Stock Road, which is now a private
home.
His first office in Billericay High Street was
at No 12 where, although still in the ownership of the Iles family,
Woodward Carpets currently trades from there.
Around 1948 the office moved further up the high
street to No 88, which was formally a Jewellers shop. The business
still trades from this address with the former strong room now forming
the copy room!
In January 2001 the founders Great Grandson Michael
Henry retired and the company passed to Paul Robinson.
